Tuition Costs

The current cost is $128.00 per semester hour. Typical classes are three semester hours. Textbooks are not included in this cost.

Transcript Requirements

Transcripts are required from all other colleges and universities students have attended and must be sent directly to the Office of the Registrar. Students may write directly to their previous schools or use a Tech transcript request form available at the Louisiana Tech Barksdale Program office. New students with fewer than 24 semester hours of college credit must also submit their high school transcripts. For more information go to

Placement Exams

Placement exams are required for students who have not had English 101, Freshman Composition, or Math 100, College Algebra. English placement exams are given on a walk-in basis from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Math placement exams are given from 8:30 to 11:00 a.m. on the same days. Both exams are given at the Louisiana Tech Barksdale Program office on the third floor of the Education Center, Building 4314.

Note: Civilian students must take their placement tests during the dates specified for civilian registration.

Getting on Base

A base pass is necessary for getting on Barksdale Air Force Base. It is the student's responsibility to obtain a base pass when registering for classes.

Non-military affiliated students must bring the following items during early or regular registration to get a base pass:

  • Valid driver's license

·         Current vehicle registration (If the vehicle is not registered in the student's name, a typed and notarized letter from the owner must be presented, giving the student permission to use the vehicle on Barksdale AFB to attend classes.)

  • Proof of insurance

The base pass and a valid driver's license must be presented at the gate for entry onto the base. Students without a base pass will not be permitted entry to Barksdale Air Force Base.

Parking on Barksdale Air Force Base

Parking is heavily restricted around the education center. Louisiana Tech Barksdale students may park only in the following areas:

1. Parking north or west of the education center on Douhet Dr or Louisiana Blvd.

2. Parking north of the Chapel Annex on Louisiana Blvd or south of the Annex in the parking lot between Burger King and Chapel 2.

3. Parking lot next to Base Civil Engineering located on Kenney Ave.

Parking is strictly prohibited in the following areas and will result in a parking ticket being issued by the Barksdale Security Forces Law Enforcement patrols:

1. Chapel Annex north parking lot.

2. Burger King parking lot.

3. Parking lot north of the education center. This lot is by special permit only for dormitory residents, Education Center employees, and university faculty and staff. The Barksdale Air Force Base-issued decal or vehicle permit does not allow parking in this lot.

Using Prescott Memorial Library

The Prescott Memorial Library is located on the Louisiana Tech University campus in Ruston. The library is open online to all Louisiana Tech students. Access the Prescott Library here: Prescott Memorial Library
